About Course
The Advanced Studio Engineering course explores advanced and unconventional studio recording and audio processing techniques designed to push creative boundaries. Students learn to approach recording as a compositional and sound design tool, applying experimental mic placement, reamplification, instrument manipulation, and unconventional routing to create unique textures and sonic spaces. The curriculum focuses on creative problem-solving, artistic intent, and practical execution, giving engineers a set of techniques to expand their sonic palette in professional sessions.
- Creative Mic Placement
Learn experimental microphone positioning and room use to capture unusual tones and spatial effects.
- Creative Sound Design & No-Input Mixing
Build textures with feedback, unconventional routing, and resampling to treat the studio as an instrument.
- Resamping
Transform pre-recorded tracks by routing them through amps, speakers, and unconventional spaces.
- Instrument Preparation & Manipulation
Explore physical alterations, extended techniques, and hybrid acoustic-electronic setups for new timbres.
