About Course

Introduction to the Guitar is your friendly, structured path to making real music from day one. In this 20-lesson journey you will learn the core skills that help you change chords cleanly, strum with steady rhythm, and play along to songs you already know and love. Each step builds on the last so you always know what to practice next.

Led by guitarist and educator Costas Baltazanis, the course starts with the absolute essentials: how the instrument is laid out, proper hand position, and how to get a clear tone on open strings. From there you will strum your first chords, including E and A, and use them in musical contexts so they stick. You will reinforce transitions and time feel by learning classic progressions and beginner-friendly arrangements of songs such as “Let It Be” and “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” so practice feels rewarding and fun.

As your confidence grows, you will add musical color and control. You will learn arpeggiated patterns that break chords into beautiful textures, plus the pentatonic scale so you can begin simple improvisation. You will explore expression techniques that make your playing sing: pick dynamics for contrast, left-hand articulations for smooth phrasing, and tasteful bends for emotion. You will also expand your chord vocabulary with power chords, barre chords, and seventh chords, opening the door to rock, pop, and blues.

By the end, you will have a solid foundation in guitar technique, rhythm, and harmony. You will be able to play full songs, accompany yourself or others, and confidently continue your musical path with clearer goals and a proven practice routine.
