Jacinta Clusellas is a composer, songwriter, guitarist, and music director based in New York City, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. With a career that bridges musical theatre, Latin American folk, and contemporary composition, Jacinta’s artistry has received international recognition and critical acclaim.
A recipient of the 2023 Jonathan Larson Grant from the American Theatre Wing, Jacinta’s debut concept album El Pájaro Azul served as the inspiration for her bilingual musical AZUL. The project has been developed and featured at prestigious institutions such as the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, NAMT Festival of New Musicals, New York Theatre Workshop, and Goodspeed Musicals. The AZUL cast EP—supported by the NYC Women’s Fund and New Music USA—was created in collaboration with Grammy and Tony-winning arranger Alex Lacamoire and vocal arranger Kurt Crowley, and premiered at 54 Below, Joe’s Pub, and featured in the Playbill Songwriter Series.
Her third EP, A Donde Llega el Silencio, was released by West One Music (UK) and recorded in New York and Buenos Aires. Following its 2023 release, her music gained global reach with sync placements in Netflix series such as The Surrogacy, The Manny, and Love is Blind Brazil, as well as broadcasts across Europe, Japan, and Latin America.
As a guitarist and music director, Jacinta has led productions such as The Comedy of Errors with The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit and has performed at iconic venues including Broadway’s SIX, David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, United Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda, and The Great Hall at Cooper Union. She has also collaborated with Grammy-winning artists Alejandro Sanz and A.R. Rahman as an arranger and performer.
Jacinta has toured internationally across the U.S., Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Canada, Greece, and Italy, with appearances at SXSW, People’s Light, Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts, and Lanesboro Arts (Jerome Foundation), among others.
As a passionate educator, Jacinta is a Teaching Artist with the New York Philharmonic, where she develops curriculum and leads programs such as Very Young Composers and NY Phil Schools. She is also on faculty with the American Composers Orchestra, and has led workshops for Lincoln Center’s Music Across Borders and Passport to the Arts programs. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music in the Contemporary Writing and Production department.
With her bold fusion of cultural storytelling, musical innovation, and educational leadership, Jacinta Clusellas continues to shape the landscape of contemporary music and theater with passion and authenticity.
