Ana Roman is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, creative technologist, and music technologist whose work explores the intersection of generative arts, sound design, and ethical innovation in digital media. With academic roots at Hunter College, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and Goldsmiths, University of London, Ana brings a rare fusion of critical theory, technical skill, and creative vision to their practice.
Their contributions to the global electronic music and digital arts scenes have been recognized in DJ Mag, Mixmag, and Resident Advisor, with standout performances at Sónar, Femnoise Fest, and Refraction Festival, where they served as an Artist in Residence. Known for live A/V performances, generative visuals, and live coding with tools like Max for Live and TouchDesigner, Ana continues to push boundaries in immersive and interactive media.
As an independent educator and workshop facilitator, Ana has collaborated with prestigious institutions including the MIT Media Lab, NYU Clive Davis Institute, Betaworks NYC, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Savannah College of Art and Design, and 343 Labs. At the heart of their work is a commitment to accessible, inclusive, and ethically grounded teaching in emerging creative technologies.
Their areas of expertise include AI ethics, generative art tools, Ableton Live, MIDI systems, creative coding, and digital performance techniques. Ana has designed and led workshops such as Generative Arts as Liberation, MIDI: The Language of Electronic Music, and Generative Harmonies: Demystifying Human Creativity in the Age of AI—each aimed at empowering artists to embrace new technologies while staying rooted in thoughtful artistic inquiry.
Since joining Sound Collective in 2023, Ana continues to inspire the next generation of creators by blending technical mastery with a passion for artistic experimentation and ethical innovation.
